Hey Folks! — Here is an old ranting draft from a few years back. Whether or not I still agree with every word said here. This draft is a reflection of strong feelings in reaction to what was going on in America. So it has merit as a representation of a “screaming soul”. Which I did often through the GREAT AMERICAN DIVIDE (is what I’ll now start referring to it as). Here’s to coming back together, with &/or without me. I’m happy and even excited to grab my toys and go. ; ) Considering my big dreams start elsewhere. Ultimately posting this is just me getting comfortable with my more vulnerable moments.
: ) ~ Enjoy!
I am often drafting and deleting when it comes to commenting on the state of the world via social media. Sometimes I put it somewhere hoping one day I’ll write my one woman play, Maybe, I’ll title it “Liberal Looser”. Today I worked very hard to put together a Facebook post I could feel good about. Often I just get worried about offending someone, or opening the door up to debate I can’t hang with and getting squashed down to nothing. Anyway, I am not strong enough to handle that, I know that about myself. I am not armed or equipped for the fight of facts, fiction and conviction in what folks hold to be true. I also do succumb to the tactic of fracturing my belief system and wonder if I’m a sheep, however, I think in just questioning whether I’m a sheep is a clear indication that I’m not. It’s like, worrying if you’re a narcissist is a clear indication you’re not a narcissist. It has amounted to your political belief system being the number one identifier on whether you are a good person or not, and both sides truly believe they are the better person. My liberal friends shouting: “If you voted for this man, you are the problem.” My right side friends shouting “Let’s go, Brandon” as some sort of community builder, both approaches feel very . However, staying silent is not ideal. So……. here you go:
Attempt #3
Two wrongs may feel good in the moment but they don’t contribute to any righting. Not a fan of over ruling our judicial power. I was told the balance of power would squash my concerns, welp! That’s out the window now, isn’t it? Whatever narrative is out there about why this is good and just, is lost on me. Perhaps I am a liberal looser, but I do have a heart that is capable of love, and I don’t see the love. I see acts of control, fear and power wielding. I understand that some of you folks reading this felt what I’m feeling now from prior administrations and I don’t deny your truth and respect your hurt in that. That does not take away my values and beliefs and my hurt in what is happening now. Two things can be true and in conflict and respect for both truths can still be in place, that is love. That is meeting in the middle. The middle has been taken away by meddling maneuvers who have capitalized on feeding us fear narratives and our actual truth is buried by lies. Our doubt, or distrust, it’s by design to fracture us, be careful how far down the aisle you go in either direction. Stay mindful and ultimately, the lesson I’m trying to learn and put into practice is just to love, as best I can, with all my might.

Perhaps I am a liberal looser, but I do have a heart that is capable of love, and I don’t see the love. I see acts of control, fear and power wielding lunacy. I understand that some of you folks reading this felt what I’m feeling now from prior instances, and I do not deny that many folks in that position do dirty things. However, basic human rights without condition, this is a very important thing to me. Let people be. That’s why WHITE people came here in the first damn place, so they could be free, and then to turn around and own slaves, that’s a perpetual motion of monkey see, monkey do. Perspective is a gift to be desired and cherished. Compassion and empathy is our evolution to be celebrated and expressed. Power is the curse that traps us in the cycle of an outdated instinct. Dictators want land, kingdoms and empires. What is this B.C.? Come on people. America was never intended to be a Christian nation and whether I believe in Christ or not, I don’t want it to be, because then we’ve lost our freedom as an American people. So, let’s not do that. Let’s be better, Jesus loved everyone. That’s what I was taught, and so that’s how I live, or try to.

Two wrongs may feel good in the moment but they don’t contribute to any righting! The pendulum of life has been awfully brutal the last 10 years and it’s hard not to believe this is a systemic and intentional outcome of the thirst for power. It seems clear that one can care about an amendment and not the constitution, so let’s stop saying we care about the constitution when we clearly have constitutional conditions. I understand that every administration has done unjust and corrupt things, and that I didn’t care then because I was living my own sweet life in my own little awesome bubble, however, that doesn’t justify tearing down the balance of power that America has always taken pride in. Folks have had a couple hundred of years to abuse our system, folks create stop gaps, and then more loopholes, more stop gaps and loopholes and now – we’re just going to sit by and say that this is how America should work, total executive power. George Washington didn’t think one man should hold that position for eternity and term limits exist as a direct decision to avoid another monarchy. I know not all of our four fathers were good intentioned, however, they worked together to create something that all of the settlers could agree on, to share and grow together. & look what we have now – a union of states. Let’s not forget that we took this land. It’s not about feeling guilt for what happened here, it’s about acknowledging what was and what no longer needs to be. Reparations, DEI is a healing, it’s an acknowledgement of systemic wrong doing and a strong statement to say, we don’t need to do that anymore. Giving opportunities to the under represented is an act of love to acknowledge that people before us built a system to cut them out. We can always do better, and we should! Two wrongs don’t make a right.
